He began his first studies with his father Donis Alvanis. At the age of sixteen he was admitted to Gordon Green’s piano course at the Royal Academy of Music in London and there he completed his studies by winning the best prizes in both piano and composition. He has performed in Europe, the United States and the United Kingdom. In London he has played in major concert halls such as Queen Elizabeth Hall, Fairfield Halls, St Johns Smith Square, etc. Alvanis is a regular guest at prestigious festivals and has performed with many international soloists and ensembles, such as Kyung-Wha Chung, Aviv Quartet, Ayako Yoshida and with orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Mozart Players and Bern Symphony Orchestra. He received the Hellenic Foundation Arts Award and most recently appeared on the cover of International Piano Magazine as a featured artist. Meridian published his recording of Chopin’s Three Piano Sonatas, in which Fanfare Magazine wrote: “This is the playing of a gifted and highly educated Chopin pianist”, while Music Web wrote: “This is a beautiful Chopin record. and can stand out among the best. ” He was a guest of the Anton Stadler Association as part of “I concerti di Primavera”.
