STEFANO VALANZUOLO

Narrative voice

He has been a journalist since 1983 and, since 1989, he has been the music critic of the newspaper Il Mattino. He works regularly with Radio3 as host of the radio programs Radio3 Suite and WikiMusic. He collaborates with Alias – il Manifesto, Sistema Musica, Amadeus, I quaderni dell’Associazione Scarlatti (LIM), as well as signing hall notes for many important Italian musical institutions. In 2022 he took on the role of Artistic Director of the “Maggio della Musica” Association in Naples. From 2008 to 2015 he was General and Artistic Director of the Ravello Festival. In 2016 he was Artistic Director of the Arena Flegrea, Naples. His numerous theatrical texts – interpreted, directed and set to music by Claudia Gerini, Rocco Papaleo, Peppe Servillo, Michele Riondino, Vincenzo Pirrotta, Davide Livermore, Alessandro Haber, Iaia Forte, Giovanni Esposito, Cristina Donadio, Paolo Cresta, Sarah Jane Morris, Roberto Molinelli – have been programmed in prestigious contexts: Teatro di San Carlo, Biennale Teatro di Venezia, Ravenna Festival, Napoli Teatro Festival Italia, Festival Pergolesi di Jesi, Teatro Coccia di Novara, Emilia Romagna Festival, Villa Adriana, Maggio della Musica. He is the author of the libretto of the opera “Il labbro della Lady” (Teatro Comunale di Modena; edit. Sonzogno) and of the melologue “Il convitato delle ultime feste”, by Carlo Galante, commissioned by the Teatro di San Carlo. He signed the subject and dramaturgy of “Alienati”, the first Italian smart working opera, and the zapping opera “Tutto in una notte”, produced by the Teatro Coccia in Novara. He also conceived and wrote the screenplay of the five-episode fiction “3 voci di dentro”, produced by the Teatro Pergolesi – Jesi, available on RaiPlay Already in charge of the courses of “Organization of the Performing Arts” and “Communication Techniques” at the Conservatory of Benevento, he is a teacher as part of the Master in “Management and Communication of Cultural Enterprises” of the Conservatory of Naples. He was a guest of the Anton Stadler Association together with the pianist Francesco Nicolosi as part of the Festival I Concerti di Primavera – VII edition 2025.
