Pi-Hsien Chen
She first performed in public at the age of five, later moved to Germany at the age of nine. She studies with Hans-Otto Schmidt-Neuhaus and later by Wilhelm Kempff and Tatiana Nikolayeva, among others. Since 1983, Chen Pi-hsien has been teaching piano at the Musikhochschule in Cologne. Her discography includes recordings of music by Bach and by contemporary authors, including John Cage, Pierre Boulez, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Roberto Carnevale and György Kurtág. Her recordings are generally very well accepted by the public and critics, considered very polite and delicate, as well as flawless from a technical point of view. She was a guest of the Anton Stadler Association as part of the “International Chamber Music Festival”.
