He began a long career as a concert and chamber musician all over the world, during which he collaborated with artists such as Cathy Berberian, Severino Gazzelloni, Itzhak Perlman, Salvatore Accardo, Uto Ughi, András Schiff and Viktoria Mullova. He has dedicated himself particularly to contemporary music, working, among others, with Pierre Boulez, Luciano Berio, Karlheinz Stockhausen, György Ligeti, Bruno Maderna, Luigi Nono, Sylvano Bussotti, of which he has often performed works in first execution. He has played under the direction of Abbado, Muti, Chailly, Sawallisch, Berio, Boulez, with orchestras such as the Filarmonica della Scala, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Berliner Philharmoniker, New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Orchester National de France. He taught at the Milan Conservatory for 24 years. He regularly teaches master classes in musical institutions around the world and has been invited to the Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont for thirty-five years. He currently teaches chamber music with piano at the Fiesole Music School. He was a guest of the Anton Stadler Association as part of the “International Chamber Music Festival”.
