FRANCO MEZZENA

Violin

Franco Mezzena, born in Trento, studied with Salvatore Accardo under whose guidance he graduated with full marks and honors and then perfected for a few years at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and the Hochschule in Freiburg (Germany). His activity as a soloist and in various chamber ensembles sees him present in the most important theaters and guest in the main festivals throughout Europe, Japan, the United States, Central and South America. Franco Mezzena is known all over the world for many CDs (more than 90).
He holds master classes and master-classes in Italy and abroad. He is also active as conductor and was appointed by RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana, effective member of the examining commission at the EUYO (European Union Youth Orchestra) selections from 2005 to 2010. In 2015 he was awarded the Napoli Cultural Classic Award dedicated to excellence. (Music section). In 2017 he founded the Mezzena Quartet with Marcello Defant, Giampaolo GuattĆØri and Sergio Patria. He plays on a violin by Antonio Stradivari from 1695 and on instruments made by Giovanni Osvaldo Fiori, Giuseppe Leone and Roberto Regazzi. He was a guest of the Anton Stadler Association on several occasions, as part of the International Chamber Music Festival.
