MATTHEW HUNTER

Viola

American violist Matthew Hunter joined the Berlin Philharmonic in 1996. His renowned ensembles include the Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet, and the Stradivari Soloists, of which he is the founder. He is sought after internationally as both performer and coach, and performs regularly at leading festivals and conservatories. His teachers included Julian Olevsky, a protégé-virtuoso of the Russian School, and Roman Totenberg, a former assistant of the great Carl Flesch. He has been a guest of the Anton Stadler Association, with the string quintet of the Berliner Philharmoniker, as part of the ARTango&Jazz Festival, XIII edition 2022.
