Dimitri Mattu studied viola and string quartet with Piero Farulli at the Fiesole Music School. In 1983 he graduated from the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory in Venice. From 1985 to 1997 he became a permanent member of the Tuscany Orchestra. He has collaborated as first viola with the Orchestra of Tuscany, the International Orchestra of Italy, the Orchestra of the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari, the Abruzzese Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Ente Concerti Marialisa de Carolis of Sassari, orchestral ensembles with whom he participated in numerous tours in Italy, France, Spain, Austria, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, China, Japan. Since 1995 he has held a professorship in viola at the G. Pierluigi da Palestrina Conservatory in Cagliari. He has taken part in numerous recordings for record companies such as Europa, Frequenz, Arts, Edipan, Bongiovanni, Dynamic, Emi and television and radio for RAI. Since 2007 he has been playing regularly in duo with the pianist Angela Oliviero with whom he is regularly invited by many national and international associations. He was a guest of the Anton Stadler Association as part of “I concerti di Primavera”.
